Black Light Theatre runs as a youth program of the Arts Council.

What is Black Light Theatre?

Black light theatre makes use of black curtains to darken the stage.  UV lighting (black lighting) and fluorescent costumes and props help to create visual illusions.  This technique, paired with expressive dance, mime and music creates a magical spectacle for the audience.  In the See My Voice... theatre group, the youth choose the music, choreograph the routines and provide creative input for the props to be used.  This gives the youth a venue to express themselves in a unique and creative way.

Our Mission

See My Voice... provides youth in Orillia the opportunity to express their opinions and concerns, share their experiences and build a sense of community by providing them with a positive, guided outlet. While the primary goal is to provide a safe, therapeutic environment for this expression, the end product is a live theatre production.

Our Goals

1) To reduce factors in our community that place youth at risk by providing opportunities for both structured and unstructured activities.

1) To provide a link to existing youth activities and programs, church groups, service clubs, sponsors, health educators, and other community groups.

2) To enable the voice of Orillia’s youth to be heard to ensure that they are given the opportunity to be part of decision making processes that affect them.
